What is the ruling on someone who experiences a wet dream after leaving for Fajr prayer and returns to his home?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The one who experiences a wet dream must perform ghusl (ritual bath) if he wishes to pray, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves." This is a condition for the validity of prayer. If ghusl is possible in the mosque, it must be performed to catch the congregational prayer. Otherwise, returning home to perform ghusl and pray there is the correct course of action. If it is possible to pray in congregation at home, then that must be done, as congregational prayer is obligatory and not conditioned on being in the mosque, even though the mosque is superior.
