Advising parents and disapproving of their actions is a form of filial piety, but it must be done with gentleness, politeness, and humility, without harshness or reprimand, except in cases of extreme necessity where some scholars have permitted moving from gentleness to strictness. If a mother curses her son merely for disapproving of her actions, and not for disobedience, her supplication is rejected and unanswered because it is not rightfully made.
