Is it valid to suffice with washing the face in Wudu’ without rinsing the mouth (madmadah) and nose (istinshaq)? What is the ruling on such Wudu’, whether done forgetfully or intentionally? Is it valid to perform Ghusl from Janabah with the intention of Wudu’ without rinsing the mouth and nose?

Rinsing the mouth (madmadah) and sniffing water into the nose (istinshaq) during ablution (wudu) and ritual bath (ghusl) are obligatory. Wudu and ghusl are not valid without them, because they are included in the washing of the face, which is commanded in the noble verse, and this is the view of the majority of scholars. Whoever omits madmadah or istinshaq in their purification, their purification is not valid, whether intentionally or forgetfully. If a person forgets to wash a limb or part of a limb during wudu, and remembers after the limbs have dried or during or after prayer, they must repeat the wudu anew. However, if they forget madmadah and istinshaq, they should perform them, then wash their hands up to the elbows, wipe their head, wash their feet, and repeat the limb where the error occurred and all subsequent limbs, unless too much time has passed, in which case they must repeat the entire wudu.
