Is it obligatory to pay the authors of pirated manga or anime that have been watched knowingly and unknowingly, and can payment be delayed until employment?

Intellectual property rights are protected, and it is not permissible to infringe upon them. Accordingly, it is not permissible to watch pirated movies. Whoever has done so must seek absolution from the rights holders by compensating them, unless they choose to forgive. However, a group of scholars holds the view that personal use, not commercial, of pirated materials is permissible, among them Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen.
