Is it permissible to attend a graduation ceremony at a Quran teaching center that includes Islamic songs accompanied by musical instruments, especially if the person is one of the top graduates, and is it permissible to attend if the father compels it out of fear of family problems?

Chants that include musical instruments (ma'azif) are not permissible to listen to, even if their content is good, because listening to musical instruments is forbidden according to the majority of scholars. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "There will be among my Ummah people who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments as lawful."

Therefore, it is not permissible to attend a graduation ceremony that includes such musical instruments. This matter must be denounced according to one's ability. If denouncement is not effective, then participation in it or attendance is not permissible, due to the Almighty's saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them."

Obedience to parents is limited to what does not involve disobedience to Allah the Almighty, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah; obedience is only in what is right." It is advisable to try to convince the father that these musical instruments are forbidden and that refraining from attending is an act of obedience to Allah.
