What is the ruling on participating in a graduation ceremony that includes music, with the intention of staying away from the music and disapproving of it in one's heart, merely for the sake of joining friends and celebrating graduation?

"Giving thanks for Allah's blessing of successful graduation is by striving in His obedience. There is no harm in celebrating it, as long as it does not deviate from what is obligatory or fall into what is forbidden. You must advise your colleagues and the organizers of the celebration to use permissible methods and avoid prohibitions. If they do not respond, it is not permissible to participate in the forbidden act or to sit where music is heard, and it is obligatory to leave the place if possible. However, if participation is limited to what is permissible, while avoiding forbidden acts and listening to music, then there is no harm in attending while striving to offer sincere advice."
