Will the people of Paradise laugh and jest?
Jannah is the abode of bliss that Allah has prepared for the pious, and therein is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived. Laughter and jesting are part of this general bliss for the people of Jannah. It has been mentioned in the Quran that the people of Jannah will laugh out of joy and delight at the blessings and honor they have received, as in His (Allah's) saying: "So today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, On adorned couches, looking on." And His saying: "Some faces, that Day, will be shining, Laughing, rejoicing at good news." As for jesting and playful banter, it is indicated by His (Allah's) saying: "They will pass therein a cup [of wine] wherein there is no ill speech and no sin." And the word "yatanaaza'oon" (pass back and forth/dispute) here has been interpreted as a playful tugging that involves a kind of pleasure.
