To what extent are the narrations regarding the Prophet's ﷺ jesting and laughing authentic, and are the incidents they describe valid?
We have previously mentioned the guidelines and etiquette of jesting, which are: that it should not involve lying or fabricating laughter, that it should not include belittling or mocking others, that it should not lead to terrifying a Muslim, that one should not jest in serious situations, and that it should be within reasonable and moderate limits. This makes jesting acceptable, and even desirable at times, and clarifies that laughter and jesting should not dominate gatherings.
As for chanting and singing at weddings and Eids, their rulings have been previously explained.
Regarding the mentioned hadiths, some of them are not authentic, such as the of Al-Dahhak bin Sufyan Al-Kilabi and the story of Nu'ayman hamstringing the she-camel, as their chains of narration are weak.
