What is the ruling on leaving papers and newspapers containing the Basmala strewn in the street or run over? And what is the ruling on shapes and lines that appear like the name of Allah or the names of the prophets on ceramic tiles or in the bathroom? And is it obligatory to verify that? And what is the ruling on cleaning car windows with a newspaper containing the names of the prophets? And what is the ruling on dissolving papers containing Quranic verses in water and washing one's head with them, or burning them and disposing of their remnants in the drain or toilet? We advise you to completely turn away from thinking about whispers (waswas) and doubts. Apostasy only occurs through a verified act, and one whose Islam is established with certainty does not lose it through doubt. Be diligent in seeking religious knowledge and sound عقيدة (creed). Increase in acts of obedience, remembrance of Allah (dhikr), seeking forgiveness (istighfar), and supplication (du'a): "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating partners with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do not know." General repentance (at-Tawbah al-Mujmalah) suffices for past sins that cannot be rectified. The repentance of an apostate is by embracing Islam and uttering the two testimonies of faith (Shahadatain). If their apostasy was by denying an obligation, their repentance, along with the Shahadatain, must include affirmation of what was denied. Abandoning the sin is a condition for repentance.
