The answer

Aborting the fetus after the ensoulment is forbidden except to save the mother's life. The prohibition and sin become more severe if it is done to conceal an illicit sexual act.

Those involved in the abortion must make sincere repentance and increase their good deeds. They are also obligated to pay the fetus's blood money (diyya), which is a full diyya if it was born alive and then died, provided it was at an age where a fetus usually survives. Otherwise, it is a ghura (a male or female slave) or one-tenth of its mother's diyya if it was younger. The mother does not inherit from the diyya.

Every participant must offer expiation by freeing a slave. If unable to do so, then by fasting for two consecutive months.

Parents must take care in raising their daughters and prevent them from mixing with non- strangers or mahram relatives whose conduct is not trustworthy.
