Is the Islamic Caliphate a matter of creed?

The Grand Imamate (the position of the Caliphate) is the highest religious office, and in it, the Caliph acts as the representative of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in preserving the religion and managing worldly affairs through it. Therefore, its conditions are numerous and stringent. There has been significant disagreement among the various Muslim sects regarding the conditions for appointing a Caliph. Research on the Grand Imamate has been compiled in books of creed and fundamentals of religion due to its immense importance.
