What is the ruling on the Sunnah prayers before the mosque greeting prayer?

The majority view greeting the mosque as recommended, and it is preferable to perform two units of prayer with the intention of greeting upon entering the mosque. If one performs a regular Sunnah prayer before that, it suffices for the greeting. It is not required to have the intention of greeting, as two units from an obligatory or regular Sunnah or other prayers are sufficient. Scholars differed on whether the reward for the greeting is obtained without its intention; some of them required the intention and some did not.
