Is it permissible for a Muslim to marry a Hindu woman who wishes to embrace Islam, when her family insists on changing her Islamic name, and she requests a Hindu civil contract in addition to the Islamic contract?

A Muslim man is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim woman unless she is from the People of the Book. If she embraces Islam, then there is no objection to marrying her. It is advisable to be keen on obtaining parental consent in marriage because it is an act of filial piety, and it has a positive effect on marital life. Changing a name is not obligatory unless it is impermissible in Islamic law, such as a name that signifies servitude to other than Allah, or a name specific to disbelievers. If changing the wife's name will please the parents, then there is no harm in persuading her to do so. It is advisable to pray Salat al-Istikhara (the prayer for guidance) so that Allah may choose what is best for you in matters of this world and the Hereafter.
