Is it considered that those who attribute themselves to a certain tribe, while originally being its slaves, will not enter Paradise?

Attributing oneself to a father other than one's own or claiming patronage from other than one's true patrons is among the grave sins. The mawali (freed slaves or clients) of a people are considered part of them by Islamic law, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The mawla of a people is one of them," and his saying: "The mawla of a people is from them, and their sister's son is from them, and their ally is from them." The righteous predecessors would attribute themselves to tribes by way of wala' (clientage), such as Al-Hasan Al-Basri Al-Ansari, their mawla, and Imam Al-Bukhari Al-Ja'fi, their mawla. Therefore, there is no harm in these mawali attributing themselves to those tribes through wala'.
