Is it permissible to direct a sum of money designated for the mosque to the school if the mosque is not in need of it and the school is in greater need?

The fundamental principle is that funds should be disbursed to the entity specified by the donor or endower. This is the view held by the Malikis, Shafi'is, and others. However, some scholars, such as Sheikh Taqiyuddin, permit altering the condition of the endower for what is more beneficial. This latter opinion is the preponderant one, as it aligns with the endower's objective of attaining great reward. Therefore, there is no objection to directing the amount to the school.
