The question

Is it permissible to perform tayammum to remove janabah when it is difficult to bathe with cold water in the wilderness? And should ablution for prayer be added to tayammum, or is tayammum sufficient for both janabah and ritual purity for prayer? And should one perform tayammum for each prayer, or is one tayammum sufficient for all prayers?

The answer

If you fear illness, an increase in it, or a delay in recovery due to the coldness of water, then you must heat it. If the inability persists after heating, then you are permitted to perform (dry ablution). If you are able to wash part of your body, then wash what you can and then perform tayammum for the remainder. If you are unable to wash your entire body, then perform tayammum. When performing tayammum, one should intend to make prayer permissible. Scholars have differed on the necessity of performing tayammum for each obligatory prayer.
