The answer

A Muslim should not eat food prepared in the house of the deceased or in a house of mourning, and should avoid it; because gathering in the house of the deceased, preparing food, and mourners eating on the occasion of a death are reprehensible innovations (bid'ah). As for the duration of mourning and condolence for someone other than the husband, it is three days. Condolences after that are disliked, except for someone who was absent.
