Is it permissible to work on designing manuscripts in Arabic calligraphy, or send service requests, or communicate with clients regarding work, from inside the mosque?

Scholars have differed on the ruling of performing crafts in the mosque, likening it to buying and selling within it. The Hanafis, Malikis, and Shafi'is disliked the performance of crafts in the mosque. The Hanbalis said it is not permissible to earn a living through crafts in the mosque, because it was not built for that purpose.

Accordingly, the questioner's performing works in the mosque is not devoid of disliking, unless it is incidental and minor, in which case the matter is lighter.

Work in the mosque is of two types: an act of worship (qurbah) and not an act of worship. The act of worship is what mosques were built for. Non-worship acts include eating, crafts, buying, and selling. As for selling, there is no harm in settling debts within it due to its lightness, but money exchange leads to excessive clamor.
