Exchanging glances with a beloved is among the most evident prohibitions, and it is a form of adultery of the eye. A woman's looking at a non-mahram man is forbidden if there is fear of temptation or the presence of desire. A man's looking at a non-mahram woman is absolutely forbidden, except for a sudden glance or for a dire need. The forbidden gaze is the harbinger of adultery.
