Is it obligatory for someone who owns a phone they do not use, and has oaths to expiate but no money, to sell the phone to expiate their oaths with that money, or should they fast? And what is the ruling on their fasting for the expiation of oaths while they own this phone?

The expiation for an oath (kaffarat al-yameen) is to be performed in the order mentioned in Surat Al-Ma'idah, verse 89, which is: feeding ten poor persons with the average food you feed your own families, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If one cannot find [the means], then fasting for three days. It is not permissible to move to fasting if one is able to feed, clothe, or free a slave. Anyone who has more than their basic needs is not permitted to move to fasting for the expiation of an oath; rather, feeding or clothing is obligatory upon them. And whoever fasts while being able to feed, their fasting is supererogatory, and they must still provide the feeding.
