Is it permissible to obtain French citizenship to facilitate visiting one's father, who resides in Switzerland, knowing that the questioner is Algerian by birth and origin?

We have previously issued fatwas stating the impermissibility of acquiring the citizenship of a disbelieving country, except out of a compelling necessity that is recognized by Islamic law and leaves no other recourse. Visiting one's father is not considered a necessity that permits naturalization. If it is difficult to visit him in Switzerland or for you to visit him in Algeria, you can meet in another country.
