What is the difference between trusting in God and casting stones into the unseen, and how can one be certain that God will do something specific out of trust in Him, knowing that one does not know the unseen? And is that considered casting stones into the unseen?

Some righteous individuals may resort to extraordinary, supernatural acts when there is an urgent necessity and for the sake of upholding the religion. This is done after exhausting all legitimate means, with complete reliance on Allah, and out of their dire need for such an action, provided it is for the triumph of Allah's religion, and that it is something that comes to their hearts after seeking guidance and reflection.

Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah holds that extraordinary occurrences happen to the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) for the sake of an argument or a necessity, such as supporting the religion, especially when facing something that invalidates the religion.

Ibn al-Qayyim points out that these states sometimes manifest for the truthful person due to the strength of their trust in Allah and reliance upon Him. This is not a permanent or intended method, but rather partial occurrences that happen to some righteous individuals; it is not a path that is commanded to be followed.
