Is it permissible for the one being led in prayer to follow his Imam in the manner of his prayer?

The congregant must follow the imam in the actions of the prayer where not following him would lead to falling ahead or behind, such as bowing (rukūʿ), prostrating (sujūd), and rising from them. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, the Imam was appointed to be followed, so do not differ from him." As for actions that do not result in falling ahead or behind, the congregant does what he deems correct, such as raising the hands when bowing and rising from it, performing tawarruk (a specific sitting posture), and placing the right hand over the left during standing.
