What is the religious ruling on a husband remaining absent for three years due to a debt, while communicating with his wife via the internet and her seeing him, given that the wife cannot bear his absence?

It is permissible for spouses to enjoy looking and listening [to each other] online if they are secure that no one else will view it, while being cautious that it does not lead to forbidden acts such as masturbation. It is better to avoid this. The husband should not prolong his absence from his wife for more than six months without a valid excuse. The woman should seek help through patience and adherence to Islamic law, increase in fasting and supplication, guard her hearing and sight, and occupy her time with beneficial activities.
