To whom did Imam Ali's sword, may Allah be pleased with him, belong before it was his, and why was it different from other swords?

Dhul-Fiqar, the sword of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), belonged to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who took it as spoils on the Day of Badr. Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated from Abdullah bin Sinan Al-Asadi that he saw Ali on the Day of Siffin with the sword Dhul-Fiqar. The distinction of this sword may be due to it being the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). What is mentioned about it descending from the heavens is incorrect.
