Who are the People of Purity (Ahl al-Safāʾ)?

Ahl al-Suffah were a group of poor Muhajireen (emigrants) who lived in the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They had neither family nor wealth to resort to. If a sadaqah (charity) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would send it to them, and if it was a gift, he would include them in it.
