Is it permissible to wear trousers in front of mahrams and women when there is no fear of fitna, and what is the reason for the difference in its ruling between men and women, both inside and outside of prayer, even though both are commanded to cover their awrah?

It is permissible for a woman to wear loose-fitting trousers designated for women, which neither describe nor reveal, in front of other women or mahrams, provided that they do not resemble men's trousers or those of disbelieving women, and are not tight, revealing the size of her limbs.

Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade women from wearing Qabatiyyah garments because they describe the body. Malik mentioned that Qabatiyyah garments describe the body due to their adherence to the skin, and that he disliked women wearing cloaks (aqbiyah) because they describe the limbs.

Scholars believe that trousers delineate a woman's figure and reveal her body contours, leading to great temptation, and that they constitute imitation of disbelieving women.

Sheikh Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Shinqiti stated that trousers delineate the body's details. He believes it is impermissible for a woman to wear them in front of non-mahram men. In front of her mahrams, he considers it an act of imitation, and that a woman should not wear them except out of necessity. The distinction between men and women in this regard stems from the fact that the temptation posed by women is greater.
