Does the verse: "Indeed, those who like that immorality should spread among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know," apply to those who publish pictures of women or romantic pictures, even if the intention is to encourage spouses or if those in the picture are spouses? And to what extent can spouses display their actions in front of people?

The noble verse, "Indeed, those who like that immorality should spread among those who have believed," encompasses anyone who desires the spread of vice and ugly morals among Muslims by any means, such as circulating indecent pictures or provocative scenes, which falls under the general meaning of immorality. Al-Tabari interpreted the verse to mean "that fornication should become widespread among those who believed in Allah and His Messenger," and Qatadah said, "that fornication and evil deeds should become manifest."

As for the attempt of those who circulate such materials with the intention of limiting them to married couples, it is not justified and does not remove the sin, because looking at indecent pictures is forbidden for both married and unmarried individuals. Although the publisher of these materials is mistaken and sinful, they may not fall under the threat of the verse if they do not intend the general spread of immorality among believers.
