Adultery is an abomination and a clear sin, which entails a punishment. For the unmarried person, the Hadd (prescribed punishment) is one hundred lashes. As for the married person who has consummated the marriage, their Hadd is stoning. Scholars have unanimously agreed on the obligation of lashing the unmarried fornicator and stoning the married adulterer.
