What does an adulteress deserve who casts her affliction upon a man devoted to God, who prefers death over marrying an adulteress?

If a woman accuses a man of fornication (zina), she has committed a grave offense, based on the words of Allah the Almighty: "And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept any testimony from them ever, for those are the defiantly disobedient" (Quran 24:4), and His words: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unsuspecting, believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have a tremendous punishment" (Quran 24:23).

Men are included with women in this ruling by consensus. Therefore, whoever accuses a free, chaste, believing man of fornication is subject to the Hadd punishment of eighty lashes, just like one who accuses a free, believing woman.

Fornication is not proven against the man merely by her accusation. Rather, she must prove it with evidence, or she will be subjected to the Hadd punishment for false accusation (qadhf). The man is not permitted to marry her unless she repents. It is also not advisable to marry her, even if she repents, lest he be suspected of wrongdoing.
