Is it obligatory for a man to undo his braids for ablution (wudu'), ritual bath (ghusl), or prayer (salat), or is it permissible for him to pray with his hair braided?

It is permissible for a man to grow his hair long and braid it. He is not required to unbraid it for Wudu (ablution); it suffices for him to wipe his head from the hairline to the nape of the neck. As for Ghusl (definition) (ritual bath), he is not required to unbraid the braids; rather, it is sufficient for him to pour water over his head three times such that it reaches the roots of the hair. In this regard, a man is like a woman. However, it is disliked for him to braid or tie his hair in a knot at the back of his head during prayer, according to the Hadith (definition): "The example of this is like one who prays while his hands are tied."
