Is it permissible to fast a makeup fast for missed days on a Friday?

It is permissible to fast on Friday with the intention of making up for missed fasts, because the prohibition against fasting on Friday applies only to singling it out for fasting. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Do not single out the night of Friday among the nights for Qiyam (night prayer), nor single out the day of Friday among the days for fasting, unless it coincides with a fast that one of you normally observes."
