If the methodology of the Salaf is the correct methodology for following the Sunnah, then why is the Hanafi school of thought spreading globally instead of the methodology of the Salaf?

The Hanafi school of thought spread due to its adoption by many Islamic states, such as the Abbasid and Ottoman Empires, which imposed it upon their judges and schools. In contrast, the Hanbali school did not spread for several reasons, including: its emergence after the other three schools had already become widespread, the scarcity of Hanbali judges, the strictness of Hanbalis towards innovators, the asceticism of its followers who did not entice people with worldly allurements, in addition to the political pressures exerted on them by the Ottoman Empire.
