Is it obligatory to kill and burn geckos upon seeing them?

The Prophet commanded that the gecko be killed and called it a "fussaiq" (little transgressor). He encouraged its killing by stating that whoever kills it with the first blow will receive one hundred good deeds. However, burning it is not permissible because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade tormenting with fire.
