Is not visiting one's father because he deprived his daughter of education and out of fear that she will demand money considered a severing of kinship ties or a sin?

The wealthy father's failure to care for his poor daughter does not negate his right to filial piety and kindness. Disobeying parents is one of the gravest sins, even if they have wronged, and Allah has coupled His worship with kindness to parents. The one who maintains ties of kinship is not he who reciprocates kindness with kindness, but rather he who maintains ties with his kin when they sever them. The parents have the greatest right among all kin. Therefore, you must fear Allah, maintain ties with your father, and abandon any thoughts that contradict what Allah has obligated upon you towards him.
