Should one divorce a wife who is characterized by bickering and disrespecting her husband and his family, especially with the repeated occurrence of this problem, and would I be sinful if an agreement were reached on divorce in exchange for her waiving half of the deferred Mahr?

A wife who is overbearing towards her husband is considered disobedient, defiant to her Lord, and negligent of his rights. The husband should be patient with her and try to reform her using the legitimate steps for addressing defiance, while being deliberate regarding divorce and making it the last resort. It is permissible for the husband to seek khul' from his wife in exchange for an agreed-upon compensation. As for delaying procreation, it is permissible if there is a need for it, and the majority of scholars stipulate the wife's permission, unless there is an overriding benefit.
