Are the Psalms and the Scrolls of Abraham distorted?

Allah sent down scriptures to Abraham (peace be upon him) and the Zabur to David (peace be upon him). Allah has informed us in the Qur’an about some of what came in the scriptures of Abraham, as He, the Almighty, says: ﴿And that no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another And that man will not have but what he strove for﴾. Our duty is to have general faith in these books and what is authenticated from them. As for the details within them, we are not commanded to know them, and nothing reliable remains from them, similar to the books of the Children of Israel.

As for the Zabur of David, it is a book revealed to him by Allah. Its meaning is "that which is written," and it is known today as the Book of Psalms. It contains glorification and praise of Allah and admonitions, and it does not contain lawful or unlawful rulings. There is no report of the Zabur's preservation. What is transmitted from it by the People of the Book is considered among the Isra'iliyyat (reports from Jewish and Christian traditions), which are accepted if their authenticity is known through sound transmission, rejected if their falsity is known, and kept silent about if their authenticity or falsity is unknown.
