Is the Hadith "Do not send incomplete blessings upon me" authentic?
The hadith of "Al-Salat Al-Batrā’" (the maimed prayer) has no basis and has not been authentically transmitted from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Rather, it is one of the fabricated hadiths widespread in Shia books. Al-Sakhawi and Al-Haytami deemed this hadith weak, and Sheikh Othman Al-Khamis denied its presence in books of Tafsir (exegesis). Sheikh Ibn Baz also affirmed its inauthenticity.
Sending blessings upon the family of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is recommended and not obligatory outside of prayer, and there is a consensus on this, as no evidence exists for its obligation. Mentioning the family and companions along with sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is more complete and superior, though omitting them does not render the servant sinful.
