What is the ruling regarding a father preventing his son from consummating his marriage and delaying the consummation without reason, and what should the son do in this regard?

A father does not have the right to prevent his son from consummating his marriage with his wife. His attempt to separate them without a legitimate Shar'i reason is a grave sin. Despite the father's wrongdoing, his right (as a father) is great, and he should be treated with kindness and beneficence. It should be explained to him the necessity of consummating the marriage with his wife, and that the illness or death of relatives is not a valid reason for prevention. Righteous people can mediate to persuade him. If he insists on preventing it, the son is not at fault for consummating his marriage with his wife without his permission, while continuing to honor and be kind to him.
