If you utter a phrase indicating your commitment to donate a camel as charity if your son is cured, then you must fulfill your vow immediately upon your son's recovery. If you did not specify a time, then delaying without an excuse causes you to miss the virtue of promptness. If you did specify a time and it passed without an excuse, then you must repent for the sin of delay. Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of an expiation for an oath (kaffarat ) for delaying without an excuse.
