An unmarried man is one who has not married. This was the case for many scholars, such as Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, Imam Al-Nawawi, and others. Sheikh Abd Al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah has a treatise titled: "The Unmarried Scholars Who Preferred Knowledge Over Marriage."
