Is the legal status of a marriage considered valid after three divorces have occurred, two of which were Bid‘i (innovated) divorces pronounced during menstruation, and a third divorce which the Mufti stated does not take effect, knowing that the jurisprudential references consulted mention that an innovated divorce does not take effect, and are the words "you are divorced" sufficient to end a marital life and destroy a large family?

To resolve marital problems, one should not hasten to divorce. There are means of reconciliation such as admonition, abstention from cohabitation, and arbitration by sensible people. A bid'i (innovative) divorce is, according to the more preponderant opinion, effective, though the issue of its occurrence is a matter of disagreement. One must seek fatwas from trustworthy scholars and not move between different muftis. Knowledge is derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah and the understanding of the righteous predecessors. Dreams or spiritual unveilings should not be relied upon to definitively ascertain the truth. Divorce is the last resort, and if a husband hastens to it, he has wronged himself and his family.
