If you seek a Khulʻ and you are pregnant, where do you observe the ʻiddah, and is it permissible to observe it in your father's house if you live with your husband in the same building?

A pregnant woman who seeks khul' (divorce at the wife's instance, by giving compensation to the husband) is entitled to maintenance and lodging from her husband until she gives birth, by scholarly consensus. This is based on Allah's saying: "And if they are pregnant, then spend on them until they deliver their burden." It is permissible for a woman who has undergone khul' and whose divorce is ba'in (irrevocable) to observe her 'iddah (waiting period) in her former husband's house, provided there is no khalwah (private seclusion) with him, or in another safe place. Her 'iddah concludes upon giving birth.
