What is the ruling on renewing ablution before every prayer, even if it leads to missing one or two rak'ahs of the congregational prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Renewing ablution for every prayer is a virtue, but it should not distract a Muslim from catching the opening takbir (takbirat al-ihram) with the imam in congregational prayer, because catching the opening takbir carries a greater reward. Whoever prays to Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first takbir, will be granted two immunities: immunity from Hellfire and immunity from hypocrisy. And when the prayer is established, there is no prayer except the obligatory one. Satan may whisper to some people to renew their ablution, causing them to miss the reward of the opening takbir or the reward of the congregation.
