How can one atone for lying to one's parents, and does that have an effect on raising children?

Lying to one's family is a wrongful act and a forbidden sin. Repentance (Tawbah Nasuh) is obligatory for it, as repentance erases the traces of sin. It is recommended to supplicate for yourself for forgiveness and well-being, to raise your daughter upon the creed and ethics of Islam, and to supplicate for her goodness and righteousness, for the supplication of a mother is answered.
