Is it permissible, Islamically, to abandon a mother who frequently lies, especially to her son, and persists in doing so despite admonition, for the purpose of deterring her and bringing her to repentance, considering that her son is the eldest, aged 23, and she is 47, and her father has passed away?

Lying is forbidden and one of the most odious of behaviors. If a mother lies, her child should advise her gently and politely, without harshness or aggression; for parents are not like others when it comes to enjoining good and forbidding evil. It is not permissible to abandon one's mother unless that becomes the only way to reform her. In such a case, abandonment is permissible to the extent necessary, while maintaining ties through other means such as financial support. If abandoning parents serves a legitimate religious benefit for them, then there is no harm in it, provided their connection is not severed in terms of financial support, food, drink, and housing.
