What is the Truth?

Linguistically, "al-Haqq" (the Truth/Right) refers to agreement and conformity, or validity, certainty, and truthfulness. In the Holy Quran, it is applied to: - Allah Almighty (the Originator), as in His saying: (So that is Allah, your Lord, the Truth). - What has been originated according to wisdom, such as: death is true, resurrection is true, and His saying: (Allah did not create that except in truth). - The belief that conforms to reality, as in His saying: (And Allah guided those who believed to the truth concerning that over which they had differed, by His permission). - The obligatory saying and action, as in His saying: (Thus has the word of your Lord proved true).

As for "al-Haqiqah" (the Reality/Essence), it is used for an existing, fixed thing, or for a belief. Among jurists and theologians, it is the word used for what it was originally designated for. In summary, "al-Haqq" in Sharia is applied to Allah, to what has been originated with wisdom, to conforming belief, and to obligatory actions and sayings.
