What is shuh (stinginess/avarice), and what is the general meaning of the noble Hadith: "Beware of injustice, for injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of shuh (stinginess/avarice), for shuh destroyed those who were before you and incited them to shed their blood and violate their sacred prohibitions"?

Injustice will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection; either real darknesses that obscure vision, or hardships and punishments.

Stinginess (shuhh) is intense miserliness and greed, and it was the cause of destruction for those before us, either in this world through bloodshed, or in the Hereafter, or in both. It is more severe than miserliness (bukhl) and more potent in withholding.
