Is it permissible to reconcile with a contractor who impersonated me to sell my land without my knowledge, given that he was sentenced to prison, and is it permissible to accept reconciliation on the condition that he brings a buyer for the land?

It is permissible to forgive the oppressor if there is a benefit in it, such as their repentance and not returning to their former actions, based on the Almighty's saying: ﴿So whoever pardons and makes amends, their reward is with Allah﴾.

Forgiveness may be blameworthy or forbidden if the aggressor increases in their oppression, and praiseworthy or obligatory if it leads to the cessation of aggression, or if it has no effect, thereby increasing the reward of the forgiver.

As for imprisonment as a discretionary punishment (ta'zir), it is permissible to forgive it and intercede in it, even after the judge's ruling.

However, it is not permissible to condition reconciliation or waiver upon a condition or compensation; because the due right is not money and does not become money, and it is not permissible to seek compensation for it. As for demanding what was incurred in lawyer fees and litigation costs, it is permissible, and these are borne by the procrastinating oppressor.
