If you forgive the one who wronged you, then he is absolved from your right, but God's right remains upon him, which necessitates repentance (abstinence, remorse, and determination not to return), because the transgression involves two rights: a right of God and a right of the human being. Your forgiveness of the oppressor places your reward upon God, as the Almighty said: "But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation – his reward is due from Allah." This is also a means of attaining God's forgiveness. As for the oppressor's supplication against the wronged, it is a sin and will not be answered, and what befell you is by God's decree.
